Horton Bank

Minister: Revd. Sarah Jemison Horton Bank Methodist Church

891 Great Horton Road
Horton Bank Top

Horton Bank is situated on a major arterial road leading from Bradford to Halifax (A647).

The church is the only community facility serving this multi-cultural residential area. Sited in the centre of the Horton Bank area, it is an ideal point from which to reach the neighbourhood and, indeed, also serves as a well-known local landmark in the community. It is easily accessible by public transport with bus stops for both directions (Bradford and Halifax) situated in front of the building.

Horton Bank does not have a car park. However, free on street parking is available on the main road and side streets.

Morning Worship

Sunday at 10.30am Approximately 1 hr in length.
This offers traditional worship. The Methodist Hymns & Psalms Hymn book is the main source of music, supplemented with more contemporary music from time to time. There is regular all age worship planned throughout the year.

S Club Stars

Sunday at 10.30am – S Club Stars is our Junior Church. They join the main service either at the start of the service or to participate in communion at the end of Morning Worship. More age appropriate activities are provided during the rest of Morning worship separately.

Evening Worship

On Sunday evenings we share in worship with the other churches in the Circuit as shown in the Circuit Plan.

Mission Statement

The mission of the church is to be “Here for all”. This statement was the agreed outcome of a series of local church meetings held in 2001. The following aims and objectives were also identified:

To be a spiritual focus for the area.
To be a people who care for each other & our neighbours both near & far.
To be a local focal point & resource.
To remember & act in the interests of the wider world.

– The achievement of these aims requires the adoption of certain objectives.

To creatively and imaginatively develop and use our facilities to meet the needs of our community.
To work with the wider community to make our building and activities welcoming and as accessible as possible to all.
To make the place alive and vibrant reflecting our faith.
To offer a variety of worship opportunities.
To strengthen our connection with the World Church and to better channel our energies into serving those whose need is greatest. For more information; please visit this church’s own website
